2, the ITM welcomed Mr. Hoang Long Bui to a virtual lunch talk, in which Mr. Bui presented the key findings of his doctoral thesis, which was awarded the top grade Summa Cum Laude.
Long Bui studied law at the University of Münster from 2016 to 2021. From October 2021 to July 2023, he completed his doctorate under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Hoeren on the topic of “The economic value of trade secrets”. He has been a trainee lawyer at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court since August 2023.
In his dissertation, Mr. Bui examines the criterion of “economic value” from an economic and accounting perspective and deals with measurement methods and the accounting valuation of trade secrets. In particular, he shows how the GeschGehG provides for “value” compensation through claims for damages and also sheds light on the procedural assessment of the economic value of trade secrets. The lecture was recorded and uploaded to Professor Hoeren’s YouTube channel.
