Certificate Award Ceremony “Law of the Digital Economy” at ITM

On September 26, 2025, the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (ITM) hosted the festive award ceremony for the „Law of the Digital Economy“ (LDE) program certificates. Around 50 guests – including graduates, faculty members, and international attendees – participated in the event.

The LDE program is a fully online certificate course focusing on the fundamentals of European intellectual property, media, and data protection law. Its aim is to provide students from international partner universities with a flexible and location-independent opportunity to engage in depth with the legal framework and challenges of the digital economy. Through its international orientation, the program fosters interdisciplinary exchange and broadens perspectives beyond national legal systems.

After successfully completing the examinations, graduates received their certificates in a formal ceremony. Following the award presentation, a champagne reception offered the chance for personal exchange and networking in a convivial atmosphere.

A particular highlight of the evening was the lecture by Georgian visiting scholar Sergi Jorbenadze, who spoke on current developments in Georgian AI law. This not only addressed a highly topical issue but also underscored the international and forward-looking perspective of the LDE program.

The „Law of the Digital Economy“ certificate is therefore not only an academic qualification but also a stepping stone for deeper engagement with the legal implications of digitalization in Europe and beyond. Graduates acquire practice-oriented knowledge that can be applied both in international studies and in their future professional careers.

Join the next cohort! Registration for LDE2 is still open until October 1, 2025. Interested students can apply and find more information at: https://www.itm.nrw/lde/
