> Alumni meeting 2021

On the invitation of the Association for the Promotion of the Civil Law Department of the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law, an alumni meeting took place on 06.11.2021 on the premises of the Institute.

At the beginning of the meeting, Institute Director Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren gave an overview of the current developments in the civil law department of the ITM. This was followed by presentations on a wide range of topics by both former and current ITM staff members.

For example, Dr. Julia Dreyer, grant awardee of the Research Centre for Intellectual Property 2020, spoke about “The Florentine Printers’ and Authors’ Privileges against Reprinting” and Yannik Borutta, research assistant, about the project “Legal Information Centre Digital University”. Julian Große-Ophoff and Klaus Palenberg, research assistants, presented the newly launched project “FAIR Data Spaces – Building a common cloud-based data space for business and science” at the ITM. Dr Sebastian Seedorf then gave interesting insights into his work as data protection officer at the Federal Chancellery. Tristan Julian Tillmann reported on his work at the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe.

Over a midday snack, the alumni exchanged ideas with each other and with the Institute’s current staff.

During the afternoon programme, the participants devoted themselves to the fine arts with a visit to the LWL Museum of Art and Culture. Over coffee and cake at Café Lux, the day came to an end and current experiences and anecdotes about their time at the ITM were exchanged.

The alumni reunion takes place every year in November. You can find more information about the Friends here.
