On Monday, attorney Lars Rieck (Hamburg) successfully defended his dissertation on the subject of “Tattooing and copyright law”. The examination took place at Chemnitz University of Technology under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Dagmar Gesmann-Nuissl and Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren and consisted of a disputation and two short presentations in which he convincingly presented his research results.
In his defense, Lars Rieck demonstrated an in-depth examination of the legal issues surrounding the copyright protection of tattoos. His work sheds light on key aspects such as the protectability of tattoos as works of art, the rights of tattoo artists and tattooed persons as well as issues relating to the utilization and reproduction of tattoos.
The examination board honored his excellent performance with the grade “magna cum laude ” – an award that underscores his sound scientific work and outstanding specialist knowledge.
