It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of our esteemed lecturer Prof. Dr. Peter Mes.
From 1998 to 2005, he was a lecturer in intellectual property law at the University of Münster. Over these years, he enriched our chair with his extraordinary commitment to the academic training of future lawyers. As an experienced lawyer, Prof. Dr. Peter Mes not only brought with him a profound theoretical understanding of intellectual property law, but above all the invaluable perspective of legal practice. In his tutorials, he succeeded impressively in bringing abstract legal concepts to life through concrete case examples from his everyday professional life. This authentic combination of theory and practice opened the eyes of many students to the fascination of this area of law. Generations of students have benefited from his in-depth specialist knowledge and his didactic talent. With patience, humor and a genuine interest in his students’ learning success, he created an atmosphere in which legal curiosity could flourish. Many of his former students, inspired by his teaching, decided to specialize in intellectual property law themselves. The University of Münster awarded him the title of honorary professor in 2005.
In Prof. Dr. Peter Mes, we are losing a valued colleague who enriched our Chair with his knowledge and personality over the years. His commitment to legal education and his enthusiasm for the law will remain a vivid memory.
Our thoughts are with his family and all those who were close to him in these difficult times.
