In 2010, a historic milestone was set in international academic cooperation between Brazil and Germany: The CAPES Brazil Chair<\/b> was established at the renowned University of M\u00fcnster<\/b><\/a> (University of M\u00fcnster – UM)<\/b>.<\/span><\/span> The<\/span> initiative<\/span>,<\/span> which<\/span> from<\/span> a<\/span> partnership<\/span> with<\/span> the<\/span> coordination office<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>for<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>the<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>Promotion<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>the<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>University education<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>(<\/b><\/span>CAPES<\/b><\/span>)<\/b><\/span> emerged<\/span> is<\/span>,<\/span> promotes<\/span> since then<\/span> scientific<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>Exchange<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>on<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>high<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>level<\/b><\/a><\/span>,<\/span> like<\/span> the<\/span> Brazilian<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>Center<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>the<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>University<\/b><\/a><\/span> <\/b>M\u00fcnster<\/b><\/a><\/span>,<\/span> the<\/span> the<\/span> Brazilian<\/span> research<\/span> in<\/span> Europe<\/span> organized<\/span>,<\/span> communicates<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An academic bridge between two continents<\/span><\/h3>\n

The CAPES Brasil Chair is open to researchers from all fields of knowledge<\/b> and is one of the main pillars of the internationalization of Brazilian science. It hosts experienced researchers from the University of M\u00fcnster to develop innovative research projects<\/b>, collaborate with international groups and increase the visibility of Brazilian universities in Germany and Europe. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to its academic contribution, the professorship plays a strategic role in academic diplomacy<\/b> by promoting intercultural dialog and the appreciation of Brazilian science in multilingual and multicultural environments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recognition of national scientific merit<\/span><\/h3>\n

The initiative aims to highlight the work of outstanding Brazilian researchers<\/b> and to recognize academic merit as a key criterion for the selection of chair holders. The program provides these faculty members and researchers with access to a state-of-the-art research infrastructure and integration into international networks, making a significant contribution to the development of open and collaborative science<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

A decade of success<\/span><\/h3>\n

On the occasion of the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the chair<\/b> – coinciding with the anniversary of the Brazilian Center of the UM<\/b><\/a> – the academic community looks back with pride on the development to date and looks forward with enthusiasm to the new opportunities for collaboration in the future.<\/span> The Brazil Chair is now part of a select network of CAPES Chairs in Germany<\/b>, strengthening the bilateral commitment to science, education and innovation<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe chair is more than an individual opportunity, it is a collective achievement of Brazilian science. It presents internationally the best we have to offer in academic research and critical thinking,\u201d explain UM representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Marcos Wachowicz represented Brazil in 2018\/19 at the Chair of Intellectual Property in M\u00fcnster<\/b><\/a> at the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (ITM)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

UFPR with GEDAI researchers in Germany in the international spotlight<\/span><\/h3>\n

Professor Marcos Wachowicz<\/b><\/a> from the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Paran\u00e1<\/b><\/a> (UFPR)<\/b> and coordinator of the Study Group for Copyright and Intellectual Property Law<\/b><\/a> (GEDAI\/UFPR)<\/b>, was selected to participate in the prestigious <\/a>C\u00e1tedra Brasil” program<\/b><\/a> program at the University of M\u00fcnster<\/b> in Germany.<\/span> The initiative is sponsored by the Coordination Center for the Continuing Education of University Staff (CAPES)<\/b>, an agency affiliated with the Ministry of Education.<\/span><\/p>\n

The result of Call No. 21\/2017<\/b>, published by CAPES, recognized Professor Wachowicz’s outstanding expertise in the fields of copyright and intellectual property law<\/b> and awarded him a senior fellowship for research and international cooperation at the renowned Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (ITM)<\/b> headed by Professor Dr.<\/strong><\/span> Thomas Hoeren<\/b><\/a>a worldwide reference in this field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Strategic cooperation in the field of intellectual property<\/span><\/h3>\n

The work of Professor Wachowicz at the <\/a>Chair of Intellectual Property<\/b><\/a> in M\u00fcnster focuses on deepening academic relations between Brazil and Germany, particularly in the areas of innovation, technology, copyright, trademarks, patents and the regulation of artificial intelligence.<\/span> The researcher from Paran\u00e1 had access to the entire academic infrastructure of the University of M\u00fcnster, including the office, laboratories, specialist library and German course.<\/span><\/p>\n

Internationalization of Brazilian legal research<\/span><\/h3>\n

The appointment of Marcos Wachowicz as Professor of the Chair was not only an individual recognition, but also an enhancement of Brazilian academic production at an international level<\/b>, reaffirming UFPR’s role as a national reference in the field of digital law and intellectual property.<\/span><\/p>\n

The CAPES Brasil professorship<\/b> has set itself the task of deepening academic relations between universities in Brazil and Germany<\/b> and promoting the exchange of knowledge and the development of innovative legal solutions. The program also aims to raise international awareness of Brazilian legal thinking<\/b> and pave the way for future institutional and academic partnerships. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRepresenting Brazil and the UFPR at a top university like M\u00fcnster was an honor and a great responsibility. This is an important step towards consolidating international academic cooperation on strategic issues for the digital society and for innovation,\u201d<\/i> explained Professor Marcos Wachowicz.<\/span><\/p>\n

The partnership between the GEDAI\/UFPR<\/b> and the ITM\/University of M\u00fcnster<\/b> under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren has established itself over the past seven years as one of the most productive and qualified international academic collaborations in the field of digital law and intellectual property.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since Prof. Dr. Marcos Wachowicz<\/b> joined CAPES Brasil<\/b>, the collaboration has led to numerous academic articles, anthologies, binational events and research networks<\/b> that strengthen the legal exchange between Brazil and Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n
