The ITM offers additional trainings for specific areas of law:
Information-, Telecommunication and Media Law
This two-semester program focuses on aspects of private and public law in terms of information, telecommunication and media. The lectures on civil law deal with legal protection of information, EDP-contract law and liability for defective software. The public law classes focus on legal issues with regard to telecommunication and broadcasting. The participants attend lectures in the first semester of the additional training and choose seminars on particular topics, such as “press and law” or “legal informatics” in the second semester of the program.
Industrial Property Rights
The additional training on industrial property rights also consists of two stages. Introductory lectures take place in the first semester and seminars about selected legal problems of patents, registered designs and utility models in the second.
Journalism and Law
The field of journalism is an interesting perspective for lawyers, e.g. the work of a press spokesman or editor and other jobs in publishing. As it is not an easy task to impart complex matters of law to the general public those who are interested in that practice area need great language and rhetorical skills. The lectures and workshops of the program aim at teaching how to write legal articles. The participants also get to know various fields of law. The lectures and seminars are currently only taught in German. Therefore the participants have to be well versed in this language. The ITM plans to offer additional training programs in English soon.
